Position Title: Tire Technician FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:

We are seeking a safety-focused Tire Technician to join our team.  This position requires a strong dedication to safety, teamwork, and professionalism. The Tire Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and replacing tires on a variety of construction vehicles and heavy equipment. This role requires expertise in tire diagnostics, repair techniques, and adherence to safety standards to support the company’s operations in a fast-paced construction environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation; perform routine maintenance such as balancing, rotation, and alignment to maximize tire lifespan.
  • Diagnose and repair tire issues, including patching punctures, fixing leaks, and replacing damaged tires, using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Install new or retreaded tires on construction equipment and vehicles, ensuring compatibility with equipment specifications and load requirements.
  • Track tire inventory, order supplies, and maintain accurate records of tire usage, repairs, and replacements.
  • Safely operate tire-changing machines, jacks, and other shop tools, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks on tires and related components to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety regulations, including proper handling of heavy tires, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
  • Maintain detailed service logs, including repair details, tire conditions, and maintenance schedules, to support fleet management.
  • Work closely with other mechanics, equipment operators, and supervisors to coordinate maintenance schedules and prioritize urgent repairs.
  • Maintain work area in a professional manner.
  • Report hazards or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Some travel might be expected with this position.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a tire mechanic, preferably in a construction, heavy equipment, or automotive repair environment.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to airborne particles.  The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
