Job Title: Diesel Mechanic FLSA status: Non-Exempt
Division: Ready Mix Reports to: Plant Manager

 

Position summary: Perform preventative maintenance and repair of all the trucks and plant equipment for designated ready mix plants.

Responsibilities:
• Perform minor and major repairs on ready mix truck fleet.
• Conduct regular preventative maintenance on ready mix trucks, including inspection, tire rotation and oil changes.
• Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop.
• Collaborate with repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs.
• Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks.
• Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles.
Expected Outcomes:
1. Health and Safety: Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Ensures all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner. Obeys safety guidelines when on construction sites and company operations.
2. Maintenance and Repairs: Maximize performance of equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed. Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunctions. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
3. Communication: Maintain documentation of vehicle service and repair status.
4. Environment: Establish the environment as a priority in daily activities and function as a steward to the environment. Demonstrate a commitment to meet or exceed environmental compliance.
5. Customer Focus: Ensure good customer relations. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.

• 30-40+ Ready Mix Trucks
• 0% travel requirement outside of market area

Qualification Profile:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of related experience
• Valid CDL license required
• ASE Diesel Certification preferred
• Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers
• Must be flexible and able to balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines
