Position Summary
The Asphalt Plant Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the asphalt plant. This role involves managing the crew, ensuring the smooth and efficient production of asphalt, maintaining equipment, adhering to safety standards, and ensuring quality control. The foreman acts as the key point of contact between the plant management and the crew while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of plant personnel, including operators, laborers, and maintenance staff.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to team members to enhance skills and performance.
- Oversee daily production schedules to ensure timely and efficient asphalt production.
- Monitor production processes, making adjustments to optimize performance and output.
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure the asphalt meets all required standards and specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing of materials and finished products.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, training sessions, and equipment inspections.
- Address and report any safety incidents or accidents, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs of plant equipment and machinery.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials and supplies.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and manage inventory costs effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of production, safety incidents, maintenance activities, and other relevant data.
- Prepare and submit reports on plant operations and performance to the Asphalt Plant Manager.
- Quickly identify and resolve operational issues, equipment malfunctions, or production bottlenecks.
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to troubleshoot and fix technical problems.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Communicate effectively with plant management, crew members, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; technical training or certification in asphalt production or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in asphalt plant operations or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt production processes, equipment, and quality control standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the industry.
- Proficiency in using plant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to airborne particles. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
