Summary

The Service Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing construction equipment and vehicles. This role involves on-site service and repair, ensuring all equipment is safe, operational, and in compliance with company standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on construction equipment and vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in equipment and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks, including oil changes, lubrication, inspection of parts, and replacement of worn-out components.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify equipment malfunctions and determine necessary repairs.
  • Provide quick and effective solutions to minimize equipment downtime on job sites.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections conducted on each piece of equipment.
  • Report issues, repairs, and parts replacements to the supervisor and ensure that all maintenance logs are current.
  • Ensure all work is conducted safely, adhering to company safety protocols and industry regulations.
  • Identify and report any potential safety hazards or risks associated with the equipment.
  • Provide on-site support to construction teams, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Coordinate with other team members to prioritize repairs based on project needs and equipment availability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a mechanic in construction equipment repair or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is preferred but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to airborne particles. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
