Position Summary:
The Roll Off Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of roll off trucks and the delivery, pickup, and emptying of large containers used for waste and recyclable materials. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate vehicle in accordance with OSHA and DOT requirements as well as all local, state and federal requirements and Company expectations.
- Drive roll off trucks to and from customer locations, waste disposal facilities, and recycling centers.
- Load and unload roll off containers of various sizes, ensuring they are properly secured for transport.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
- Provide exceptional service to customers, including timely delivery and pickup of containers, and addressing any customer concerns or requests professionally.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and waste disposal activities. Complete necessary paperwork and electronic logs as required.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations related to waste transportation and and disposal.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on trucks and containers as Report any major maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers to ensure efficient operations and address any issues that arise.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste and recyclables in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Must follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must have maneuvering and backing skills.
- Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process.
- Must be able to communicate effectively on the radio system.
- Must maintain driver’s daily logs.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, customers and supervisors.
- Report to assigned job area in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate specific directions to ensure the safety of all.
- Desire to learn and commitment to working safely.
- Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late, when necessary, with little or no notice.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Prior experience as a roll off driver or in a similar waste management role is preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (Class A or B) is required.
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past three years.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, perform physical labor, and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication and customer service. Ability to operate roll off trucks and related equipment safely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to waste transportation and disposal.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to airborne particles. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
