Estimator/Project Manager

An Estimator/Project Manager will be responsible for each project assigned from initial take-off and bid proposal to scheduling the field and managing the job to successful completion.

 

General responsibilities include:

  • Perform take-off and estimate heavy highway, municipality, and commercial construction projects specifically in Earthwork, Asphalt and Concrete Paving, and Utilities.
  • Prepare cost estimates on proposals, projects, and studies; and ensure content of each estimate is complete, accurate and meets the requirements of the Estimating Manager.
  • Communicate well with all owners, subcontractors, vendors, office, and field personnel; manage all questions and any scope issues.
  • Prepare subcontractor and vendor scope sheets, send/process all subcontractor/vendor RFP’s.
  • Establish detailed cost breakdowns for self-performed work.
  • Calculate trucking, production, and crew hours specific to each project estimate.
  • Oversee project; work with the field to deliver each job on time and on budget.
  • Compose change orders, RFI’s, submittals, close out documents and any others as needed.
  • Manage multiple estimates and projects simultaneously.

 

Qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree in construction management and/or civil engineering is desired, but not necessary for a candidate with equivalent experience in heavy highway, civil, and commercial construction, and site development.
  • Field and Estimating experience are desired.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in civil, and heavy highway construction.
  • Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must manage time wisely with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Must have excellent computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Bid-2-Win (B2W), Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera,

Trimble Business Center and Viewpoint software a plus.

  • Kansas driver’s license in good standing. Salary is based on many factors, such as experience and skill set. The salary listed on this job posting is an estimation, only. We encourage all experienced individuals to apply.
